Discover Our Professional Development Opportunities

Our Training Programs

For more than 50 years, the Center has trained undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students for careers working with children and families in community mental health settings. We are an approved provider of mandatory continuing education courses in California by the American Psychological Association and the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Our classes are taught by resident and community professionals who are experts in community mental health care for children and families. All of our staff learn current intervention and assessment strategies as well as other professional topics of interest. The Center is widely known as one of the best training organizations for entry level and licensed professionals. Trainees provide services at all Center locations.

APA-Accredited Psychology Doctoral Internship

The fundamental goal of the internship program is to provide interns with a combination of didactic and broad-based, supervised, direct service experiences that will prepare them for independent practice of clinical psychology in the future

Psychology Postdoctoral Residency

The focus of the postdoctoral residency is to provide comprehensive and in-depth training on the issues and treatment of child abuse and trauma.

Second Year Social Work Internships

Our MSW internship program is designed to give MSW students the opportunity to develop clinical, mezzo and macro skills within a community based mental health agency.

Marriage and Family Therapy Practicum Program

Our MFT practicum program is designed to give students a valuable learning experience, and develop clinical skills within a community-based mental health agency.

Community Partner for Psychiatric Residency Training

Outpatient Child Psychiatry Rotation for UCLA-Olive View Program.

Because of the expertise of our supervisory staff and the cultural and linguistic needs of many of our clients, the Center is able to offer unique training experiences for English/Spanish bilingual students who wish to enhance or refine their skills in providing services to Spanish-speaking families.

NOTE TO INDIVIDUALS SEEKING MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPY (MFT) INTERNSHIPS AND TRAINEESHIPS:

The Center does not offer a formal MFT internship program.  MFTIs are considered to be entry-level staff and they receive the required hours of supervision in preparation for licensure.  If you are seeking an MFT internship, please return to the opening page of the Website and click on “Careers” for a list of current openings and application procedures.  The North Hills location does offer training to MFT trainees in the Psychology practicum placements.
